  HEALTHIER GENERATION
Do your favorite snacks make the grade?
Find out today at
www.healthiergeneration.org/ProductNavigator. Thanks to the Navigator, a free online tool from the Alliance for a Healthier Generation, finding nutritious and low calorie snacks has never been easier. The products featured in this easy-to-use tool  meet the Alliance’s School Snack Food Guidelines, so schools can ensure the snacks they serve are healthy options for students and staff. But you don’t have to be an educator to get a lesson in healthy snacking. You can create your shopping list of healthy snacks, print it, and take it with you when you purchase your snacks from your distributor or your local wholesale store.

Partnership Connects with Students to Encourage Healthy Living
Middle schools and high schools across the country will now have another valuable resource for healthy living with the Alliance’s new partnership with Channel One, the nation’s preeminent in-school news and public affairs content provider. With a network of more than 11,000 schools, Channel One will broaden its coverage of issues related to childhood obesity and healthy living through on-air and online programming as well as resources, surveys and quizzes designed to stimulate classroom discussion and school action. The network will also feature success stories and news segments related to the work of the Alliance, including the Healthy Schools Program. Together, we will reach teens and teachers where they spend most of their time – in school – to drive home the importance of increased physical activity and balanced nutrition in and out the classroom.

Country Director Sworn in As Lesotho Minister of Health
The Clinton Foundation’s Mphu Ramatlapeng was sworn in as Lesotho’s Minister of Health this month at the invitation of the King and Prime Minister of the country. As CHAI’s Country Director for Lesotho since October 2005, Mphu has worked at the forefront of the HIV/AIDS epidemic, guiding the Clinton Foundation’s efforts to help the Ministry of Health develop, expand and implement care and treatment programs for people living with HIV/AIDS. While the Clinton Foundation will greatly miss Mphu, we know the country of Lesotho is gaining a seasoned leader who will undoubtedly make an invaluable difference in the lives and well-being of the people of Lesotho. We wish her the best of luck in her new endeavors. To learn more about Mphu and the work of the Clinton Foundation in Lesotho, check out her

          CLINTON GLOBAL INITIATIVE
New Fund to Spur Job Creation, Growth in Liberia
Inspired by Liberia’s President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf at the 2006 CGI Annual Meeting, Bob Johnson, founder of BET and The RLJ Companies, launched a $30 million Liberia Enterprise Development Fund to aid in the revitalization of the country’s post-conflict economy. The fund will spur job creation by directly investing in Liberia’s infrastructure, education, health and agriculture, and coordinate local partners to extend technical training and assistance to local businesses and entrepreneurs. This commitment is one way the African American community is working to restore historic ties to Liberia. Learn more

Students Embark on International Service Abroad
Students from the Clinton School of Public Service at the University of Arkansas will embark on summer internships on six continents, working to curtail world hunger, fight the spread of the global HIV/AIDS epidemic, contribute to the development of women leaders in South Africa and address a range of other critical issues. Twenty one students will join forces with 17 international organizations, including Oprah Winfrey’s Leadership Academy, Heifer International, and the Clinton Global Initiative, to build on the skills and knowledge gained in this first two semesters of the Clinton School curriculum. Students will work directly with the host agency to both plan and implement exciting new projects, leaving an impact on the world that will last long after school resumes in the fall.

A RUN FOR LIFE IN DEATH VALLEY
Rahul Moodgal, a Londoner and supporter of the Clinton Foundation HIV/AIDS Initiative (CHAI), ran 30KM in Death Valley to help save the lives of thousands of children living with HIV/AIDS. After training rigorously for six months, he traveled more than 5,000 miles to run in the 18th Annual Death Valley 30K Trail, a challenging stretch through the stunning red rocks of Titus Canyon and other scenic locales. Rahul, alongside 299 other runners, dashed over sharp peaks and down steep declines, through wind tunnels and dark caverns, and all while under the intense desert sun. Despite several ankle sprains due to loose gravel and uneven terrain, Rahul completed the journey in only 3 hours and 45 minutes.

His successful run raised $250,000 in pledges, which he donated to CHAI's pediatric program, a initiative working to make AIDS treatment accessible to children around the world. Thanks to Rahul's steadfast endurance, and the generosity of those who pledged their support on his behalf, more than 5,000 children living with HIV/AIDS will be able to access life-saving antiretroviral therapy and start on their own path to recovery.

We hope Rahul's creative way of supporting and promoting the work that CHAI conducts in over 62 developing countries inspires you to put your own talents to work for CHAI, as well as other Clinton Foundation programs. As Rahul has demonstrated, one person can make a huge difference. Each of us has a tremendous amount of power to solve problems, make a difference, and save lives. Be a part of the change that improves the world – make your personal commitment to the Clinton Global Initiative today, or make a donation to the Clinton Foundation.
